Algae Foundry is a Chennai-based spirulina cultivation and manufacturing enterprise, founded in 2023 by Padma KS. We grow our own spirulina and make it into nutrition and skincare products under two brands: JUS2 and JUS2Glo.

Our founder
Her journey began not in a lab, but on a terrace.
Padma KS is the founder of Algae Foundry: a Chennai-based spirulina cultivator and first-generation entrepreneur in natural algae farming.
As a home-gardener, her passion for growing things led her to spirulina, first for her own family’s consumption. That personal experiment grew into Algae Foundry, founded in 2023, now a 7,000 sq. ft. natural farm.
A university gold medallist and rank holder in M.Sc. (1993) from Osmania University, Padma spent a significant part of her career at the National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, before moving into the nutraceutical and pharma space. Her blend of scientific expertise, entrepreneurial drive and passion for independent farming shapes how Algae Foundry works.
The farm
Grown in raceway ponds, in Chennai.
We cultivate our own spirulina on a 7,000 sq. ft. natural farm, in raceway ponds, using permaculture-based methods and eco-friendly processes.
Our journey has been one of innovation, resilience and deep respect for nature. From early cultivation trials to making spirulina-based supplements and skincare, we’ve grown by combining scientific insight with practical adaptability. Research and improvisation have been the order of the day, guiding us to refine our methods and diversify what we make.

Why we exist
Real guidance, not superfood hype.
Post-COVID, as immunity and protein became everyday buzzwords, Padma noticed a gap: plenty of noise about superfoods like spirulina and moringa, but very little real guidance on how to use them, and very little attention to micronutrients specifically.
We believe good health goes beyond health care: education and access to the right information are the foundations of preventive health and overall well-being. So beyond selling products, we run wellness and nutrition awareness programmes for students, professionals, and communities. Education first, sales second.
